Over the two years, students will study a variety of topics which fall under the 5 main strands of maths; number, ratio & proportion, algebra, geometrical reasoning and statistics. They will be taught using the principles of teaching for Mastery to ensure the students have a depth of understanding, so they are able to build upon this learning when the start the GCSE course in Year 9.
Number sense will be taught throughout the year, so the students are able to manipulate numbers.
