Rosebery School is a highly successful girls’ comprehensive school for students from 11-18 years old. Our students are a pleasure to work with; intellectually curious, empathetic and fun, they continually challenge themselves to achieve demanding objectives which leads to great personal success. This is coupled with a body of incredibly dedicated and passionate staff who are driven to deliver the best possible provision to our students, to help them all overcome their personal challenges to ensure all doors remain open to them, and to empower them to achieve their dreams.
I am proud to be a Rosebery Parent Member and am committed to supporting the schoolto deliver its strategy to be outstanding and to provide the best educational outcome and equality of opportunity for every pupil.
Working within the Surrey education sector, I support Secondary Head teachers across the county to address the strategic challenges and opportunities that arise from extensive and unrelenting system change and policy reform. Against the backdrop of an ever changing educational landscape, I am pleased to be able to work in the capacity of Member, with the SLT and School Strategy Board to support Rosebery’s strategic drive.
Sarah’s professional background in project management in the UK financial services sector and the international development sector make her a valuable asset to the Board. In addition, she is an experienced governor who has previously served as a Parent Governor at local infant and junior schools.
With three children in the state school system, including a daughter at Rosebery, I was motivated to become a Member so that I could give something back through the application of skills and experience gained in my professional life. I hope that with my background in finance and investing, I can help ensure the school remains prudent with its finances and able to provide an outstanding quality of education through a well-rounded curriculum, both in the short and long term.
Peter brings with him a wealth of professional skills and expertise to contribute to the effective financial performance of the school, making sure its money is well spent. He is Member with responsibility for safeguarding.
As a parent, I want actively to support the school to continue to provide a happy and supportive environment for our daughters to learn and grow. I will use my knowledge and expertise to help the school leadership team to continuously improve standards, so our daughters can be the best they can be, ready and equipped for the opportunities life holds.
Silke’s skills and experience as a Strategy and Planning Manager at TfL setting strategic direction and managing risks in challenging economic times strengthen the Board’s capacity to set and champion vision, ethos and strategy. In addition, Silke’s previous experience as a governor at St Martin’s Infant School brings an independent, fresh perspective to the work of the Board for which she she is Member with responsibility for SEND.
A strong advocate of a healthy State Education system to promote equality and opportunity, I volunteered as a Member to assist the school in being at the leading edge of that provision. The challenges we and our children face are becoming ever more complex and we seek to provide a path through education that helps us and them meet those challenges intelligently and with a clarity of purpose.
After 30 years in senior roles in the aviation industry and setting up various small businesses with his wife including a current pre-school setting, he now works on a variety of consulting projects for companies large and small in various sectors. He brings a range of general business skills and compliance expertise to the Board.
My nomination form said that maintaining Rosebery’s high standard cannot be assumed but will be achieved through vision and hard work. Members, staff and parents are key contributors to these goals. This remains true today; perhaps more so now we are an academy and with the challenging financial position we, like all schools, have to address.
Richard is Managing Director in a mid-sized engineering company. His professional role includes all aspects of the business but particularly strategy, operations, finance, premises and personnel.
