Rosebery is a high-achieving school with a caring ethos: a place of excellence, endeavour and opportunity. Our role as governors is to challenge and support the Headteacher and her staff in offering the best possible educational experience for every student. We provide a vision and the values for the school and monitor its performance against a stringent set of key performance targets. We are very appreciative and proud of the tremendous hard work of the Headteacher and her staff and of the excellent achievements of all our students.
As an academy, Rosebery receives the majority of its funding directly from central government via the Education Funding Agency (EFA). Academy governors have wider responsibilities than those of maintained schools. All governors are directors of the Rosebery Academy Trust and comply with the Companies Act 2006. The Trust undergoes an independent annual audit and produces an annual report/financial returns for parents, Companies House and the EFA. Six of the governors are also Members of the Trustee Board who determine any major changes to the academy trust, such as amending its constitution. They are the equivalent of shareholders of a registered company; any profit produced by the academy is not distributed to members but used to enhance the education of our students.
The School Strategy Board is made up of volunteers elected from the local community, parents, GLF central staff, our Headteacher and School Business Manager. We contribute our knowledge, skills and experience to the school on a voluntary basis and we all consider it a privilege to be associated with Rosebery School.

School Strategy Board (SSB)
Structure of SSB
Our School Strategy Board (SSB) meets once per half term. Our SSB provides the local governance function for our schools which fits within the overall governance structure of GLF Schools. Further information about governance at GLF Schools can be found here. The three core functions of governance are:
Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
Holding leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management, including well-being, of staff
Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
It is therefore important that our SSB comprises the right people with the right skills to make appropriate and informed decisions for a school, taking into account the views of children and students, staff, parents and the local community.
