The Intervention Team comprises the following support staff who are all focused on removing the barriers to learning that some students experience. The team follow an open door policy throughout the day and students can access support in the Student Services area including mentoring, counselling, art therapy, anger management, Breakfast Club and First Aid.
To lead manage and coordinate the effective delivery of early intervention for Year 7 to 11 students. Focussing on the barriers to learning that are experienced through emotional, social and behavioural issues. Delivery through 1:1 therapeutic intervention and group work. Focussing on the health and wellbeing of students incorporating emotional resilience where necessary .Ensuring effective high standards of communication throughout the school, liaising with families and external agencies where necessary.
Implementing robust safeguarding processes to encourage and maintain regular attendance of students. Managing and monitoring school registers. Investigating unexplained absences and raising any concerns regarding attendance with parents, staff and other external professionals. Implementing and updating the school Attendance Policy. Recognising and rewarding excellent attendance.
Lead Student Support Officer providing emotional support and 1:1 therapeutic intervention for students. Responsible for running the breakfast club on a daily basis. Primary first aider and first point of contact for medical interventions. Ensuring the safeguarding of Health Care Plans with secure knowledge of specific medical conditions throughout the school. Organiser of Year 11 Prom, Celebration Evening, Year 11 Yearbook and Leavers Hoodies.
Support the learning of designated pupils who have been referred to the Student Service Department due to behavioural issues. Supervise students who are working in Students services or working to an alternative timetable.
Negotiate behavioural issues with individual students to minimise class disruption and effect a rapid reintegration into daily school life. Support teachers in lessons where student’s behaviour is effecting the learning of others, offer advice on how to manage these lessons. Behaviour Management classes & Art Therapy Sessions.
To provide up to date, independent and impartial careers information, advice and guidance to students to support their development and improve access to future pathways. To coordinate year 12 work experience and oversee Student Voice.
