The Intervention Team comprises the following support staff who are all focused on removing the barriers to learning that some students experience. The team follow an open door policy throughout the day and students can access support in the Student Services area including mentoring, counselling, art therapy, anger management, Breakfast Club and First Aid.

To lead, manage and coordinate the effective delivery of early intervention for Years 7 to 13 students, focussing on the barriers to learning which are experienced through emotional, social and behavioural issues. Delivery through 1:1 therapeutic intervention and group work. Focussing on the emotional health and wellbeing of students and incorporating emotional resilience where necessary .Ensure effective high standards of communication throughout the school, liaising with families and external agencies where necessary and identify support needs and safeguarding concerns.
Implement robust safeguarding processes to encourage and maintain regular attendance of students. Manage and monitor school registers. Investigate unexplained absences and raise any concerns regarding attendance with parents, staff and other external professionals. Implement and update the school Attendance Policy. Recognise and reward excellent attendance. Ensuring early intervention with attendance issues is in place.

Lead Student Support and Wellbeing Mentor providing emotional support with 1:1 therapeutic interventions for students. Develop resilience and independence where necessary. Maintain effective liaison with appropriate staff, parents and carers and external agencies to ensure support meets the students’ needs. Primary first aider and first point of contact for medical interventions including the whole school immunisation programmes. Ensure the safeguarding of Individual Health Care Plans with secure knowledge of specific medical conditions throughout the school. Responsible for running the school breakfast club on a daily basis and administration of the free school meals entitlement.
Works closely with the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, the Heads of Year, the Deputy Heads of Year and the Student Support and Wellbeing Manager. Assists with the development of a coordinated and coherent support for students who regularly demonstrate challenging behaviour which may have a negative impact on their learning. Maintain a presence in specified lessons in order to provide short term support to staff and students.
Student Support Mentor providing emotional support and 1:1 therapeutic interventions for students, specialising in ‘drawing and talking’, Mindfulness, Art and relaxation sessions. Develop resilience and independence where necessary through 1:1 and group work. Maintain effective liaison with appropriate staff parents and carers and external agencies to ensure support meets students’ needs. Peer Support coordinator and Trainer.
